Gifts

I have been very lucky with the people I have met on dA. Some amazing artists, fractalists in particular, and some of them have kindly sent me gifts. I appreciate it very much. :iconpounceglomp:

I received really wonderful birthday gifts this year (Dec 2013) from some of my very talented dA friends. I wish to thank them very much for their thoughtfulness and the beauty of the work they have shared with me.

From :iconcreativemikey: a beautiful flower photo:
Morning Has Broken by creativemikey

Then, from the wonderful :icongerda1946: this fabulous fractal:
Peggi by Gerda1946

And, from my most constant watcher, :iconisider: or :iconiytj: this wonderful 3D:
Canyon,for Peggi by isider

Thank you all so much for making my birthday very special indeed!

Past gifts:
Here are some 2010 birthday gifts from some very dear people.

First, this gorgeous sunset shot from :iconcreativemikey:
Sundown by creativemikey

Then, the wonderful :iconliuanta: made this spectacular Apo Rose for me:
Rose for Peggi by Liuanta

Thank you both so much for the lovely birthday gifts. I truly appreciate it!

Here is a wonderful Mandelbulb made for me by :iconmario837:! That is so sweet of you, Mario! My very own Mandelbulb. They are so cool looking!
Seven Petals for Peggi by mario837

This is a wonderful whimsical fractal by my dear friend and wonderful artist, :icongypsyh:. Thank you so much, Gypsy! It's a beautiful piece.
For The Birds by GypsyH

Here is the lovely fractal that :iconalterren: sent me as a gift. Isn't she wonderful?

Petals on the Wind-Gift Art by Alterren

Here is another great gift. This one is from my good buddy, :icontina1138:. I was so touched to get this! She's been a great dA friend and she does some kick butt Bryce work.

gift for peggi by tina1138

Oh, boy! I got another wonderful gift from my good friend, RozRR, who is such an amazing fractalist. This was one of the exquisite sculpted fractals she does in FE. Thank you, Roz, for the lovely present.

Unfortunately, Roz has left dA and taken her wonderful art with her. You can catch her over at RedBubble.com.

And this is a 60th Birthday present from the ever so talented :iconrockgem:, who does some amazing fractal manipulations, that turn into lovely animals and flowers!!

Bluebells... by rockgem

Thank you, rockgem for your lovely and thoughtful gift. I'm touched.

This is another 60th birthday present from my wonderful friend, Lea (:iconleawiggins:). She helped me keep my sanity during the time I was unemployed and fractaling at all hours of the night. She was often on dA at the same time and we would note each other back and forth. She is a wonderful person and I thank her profusely for this thoughtful and beautiful gift!
A Turquoise Dream by LeaWiggins

A birthday gift for my 60th birthday in Dec 2009 done by the wonderfully talented :iconbrigitte-fredensborg:.

Happy Birthday, Peggi 2009 by Brigitte-Fredensborg

Thank you, Brigitte, for this lovely fractal gift.

Another gift done by :icondeviantmary:. She did this for me after my scope ordeal. Thank you so much, Mary!!

YarNor's Lazy Julian Mini Tutorial

Be well!

This Challenge is based on the tutorials:

and YarNor's:

I have done others so this may not be my choice for entry.  I'll have to think on it.  Any suggestions?

Another Art Theft Announcement

Journal Entry: Thu Oct 23, 2014, 10:38 AM
A very nice person, :iconbeautifulchaos1: (Kim) noted me on dA the other day to say she had found some of my art being sold by someone on an Etsy shop.  I just can't believe the nerve of some people!  He's actually trying to make money off of other people's art!!  I am going to contact him and ask him to remove my work from his Etsy shop.  I should be the ony person to make money from the fruits of my labor, not anyone else, unless I agree to pass the rights to someone else, and so far, I haven't done that as far as I know.

Anyway, I think I saw some other art from people here on dA, so you might want to check to see if YOUR art is being sold by this guy!   So, here's the link to his shop:
www.etsy.com/shop/BestOfferEve…

Check it out and see if your art is being used by this jerk on Etsy!!

If you do find something, please let me know.  I would like to use other names of artists when I write to him to say we are aware that he is stealing art and trying to sell it and we are not happy about it and he should cease and desist immediately, or I (we) will contact Etsy to say this person does not have the rights to these images.

Just thought I would let you know.  I know there are many instances of art theft, but a lot of times the work is not being sold, but used on blogs, and as wallpapers for free download (though I'm not sure I like that idea).  But, at least they are not trying to make money off of other people's work.

Can you please select your favorite from these images?

Thank you so much for that wonderful comment!  I wish you luck on your job hunting, and not just so you can buy my art, but because it's always nice to land a job!  I'm delighted you like my art and don't worry, I can't stop making art.  I always seem to have a fractal program open on my desk top and working on something or other.  I hope you will like any future images I upload, too!

You're very welcome!  I like to see what you are creating using Pixlr.  I might have to try that one myself.  Any pointers or suggestions you might want to pass on to a newbie?

Sure!  Just have fun and try all the features.  It lets you superimpose images on top of one another to create a new and different version combining elements of all.  I go back and forth between Pixlr Editor and Pixlr Express on an image to get specific features.  Try adding Stickers and changing its colors/saturation/size.  You can start with a sticker from Express and superimpose an existing image around it, or vice versa.  The kaleidoscope feature in Editor is great.  You can zoom in or out to get just the right effect/size to capture whatever amount of detail you want.  Try taking an existing pic you have and mess around with it.  I rarely take an image off the internet and re-purpose many of my existing images with these features.  And that way you don't run the risk of nabbing someone else's work my mistake.  You can also create a new image in Editor and then work with it in Editor and Express.  Creating a new image lets you experiment with shapes and lines to create an original to manipulate.  Like I said, just have fun and try everything.  The program is free to download.  I'll be waiting to see what you get! :)

I'll have to download it at home.  I'm running Windows XP (I know, get with the times, Peggi) and according to the system requirements for Pixlr, it runs on Windows 7 or above.  I have Windows 7 at home and a faster machine, so I'll give the desktop app a whirl at home.  If I do anything with it, I'll post it and send you the link.  Thanks so much, Linda!  I love learning about new art tools for free!

Thank you very much, Erik!! And thank you so much for sharing your knowledge of the math of fractals by creating some kick-butt formulas for us to play with!  I truly appreciate the work you have put in and generously shared with us fractalists who have no clue how the math works, but we love playing with it.
