Artist's Comments

Here's another rendition of the Apo Jellyfish family, only this time there are more of them and there's fractal algae. Made with Apo 2.08 and postwork done in GIMP. I hope you enjoy these little invertebrates. I don't know if they sting, but I wouldn't get too close to find out.

Full view for detail and download is 1280x960.

Update 05-23-09: This received a DD!!! I am so excited!!
:boogie: :iconpyrodanceplz: Thanks such much to :iconjennabee25: for suggesting it and to :iconcmptrwhz: for featuring it in his journal. I'm so thrilled!

Apo Jelly Armada by *wolfepaw suggester writes, "I like it when artists combine different elements into one cohesive piece. This fractal collage is well-themed, has depth, lighting, and wonderful color. It's a digitally fractal fun aquarium!" (Suggested by =jennabee25 and Featured by `cmptrwhz)

Critiques

:icondaffodilbaggins:
This is absolutely amazing, and so beautiful! I've never seen anyone do this with Apo before--and it's such a wonderful, detailed, lifelike image! I love the colors and the details, and the composition is very nicely done. The light coming in at the top is wonderful, and I love the way it spreads out across the image, too. (you do have to look at the larger view to see that lovely detail!) The transparency in the jellyfish is also amazing, and quite appropriate, and so help me, I keep thinking I see another fish shape within the jellyfish to the right--the one with the blue top, and pink-orange underside! The flame algae is lovely, and well done also. I can tell that this took both a lot of thought, and work, and having used Apo before, myself, I can certainly appreciate the difficulty you might have encountered in doing such an image! Bravo, and this is going to my faves!

Amazing image Peggi, I think it is beautiful, and the seaweed is so cool too! Does this take a special script to create? I know Anita has made them for a long time. They are always so beautiful!

Thank you so much for the time you take to look at my art, comment and choose favorites. I may not always thank you but I appreciate it more than you know.

Thanks again, Lea! There is no script. The algae was created separately using the same basic transform as the tentacles. I deleted the "bell" on one of the jellyfish and then played a little with the tentacle transform to look more algae-ish (is that a word?). I think the "water" adds a lot to it, too. I'm glad you like it. :blowkiss:

Got the gradients and sent you an email. Thanks so much. Would you like the params for one of the jellyfish? The transform for the tentacles is the really tricky one. Just let me know.
