A redone version of the Apo Museum Gift Shop Christmas.

I made the tree a little bigger and I moved it further back. I also rotated the colors in the Christmas tree to give it a little different look. I know it looks like the other one, but some people may prefer this version. Also, I changed the size and location of the tree, based on :iconbooleann-angel:'s great critique of the original. She had some very good points. I hope this is better in that regard. Thanks so much, Lea. I love your input. It always helps me improve.

Tree made in Apophysis 7X.Final, Apo Museum items made in Apophysis 2.08 3D Hack and layers assembled in Photoshop CS and animation done in Image Ready with the file exported as a swf Flash animation. I've never uploaded a Flash before. I hope it looks OK.

There is no thumb, just the full size image.

Full view for detail.

Being that any critique is an attempt to understand the concept of a piece of art, I can say that this would not be so difficult; even the title of this piece gives assistance for that cause, therefore I shall not linger on attempting to understand the concept here and move on to my first spontaneous reaction to this piece.

I was fascinated at how this work told the story of the festive season and I would have had no difficulty in getting a response to a question like who has not remembered a moment in their childhood that portrayed what we see here. This is the relationship that creates a visual effect to me, which is called a principle in any critique.

The colour contrasts within the transparent boxes; the connections and movement of the fairy lights on the tree; the shading, repetition as a way of getting our attention tells about the style of this work.

I doubt any merging of software programs such as Photoshop, Apophysis, and Image Ready could have been blended more exceptionally than here. Maybe the artists should offer some tutorial on deviantART regarding the techniques used to intertwine these programs.

Well done to the artist. I enjoyed all emotions and thoughts this piece created for me.

Oh, I love this as well! I do like the tree better in this position.

It gives the image a different focus;one that I wasn't aware of until seeing it in this updated version.
I actually went back and forth between them several times trying to figure out what made the focus different.

It was the position of the tree. In you compare them side by side, you might see what I mean. In the first image, there is a sense that the tree is 'crowding" the viewer.

In this version that sense isn't there any more. One of the other things I like how you cycled the colors differently on the tree. I am not sure I would have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned it though. It is amazing to me that just changing the position of one thing in an image can make a much different feel, and focus!

Wonderful and inspiring work, lady!
