This would have been my entry into FE Weekly #2 being held in the :iconfractal-explorer: group, based on the wonderful FE Talis tutorial [link] by :iconmario837:. The rules said to follow his tutorial exactly and his tut went as follows:

- Open Fractal Explorer version 2.02
- Open a new 2D fractal window
- Under Mandelbrot-style fractals, choose Talis variation 1 or 2
- Set Functions at CAbs or CAbs2 (this is the most rigid requisite)
- Use a simple filter like (Y*Y) or (X*X) to start. You can modify this later. Increase a bit its value to say 0.2
- Select Trasform: sin+sin | cos+sin or sin-sin|cos-sin, again, you can experiment with this later.
- Set Max. iterations to something around 40
- Set bailout at 99999
- Check the View as Julia box
- Check the inverted box (or not).
- Select a simple palette. A gradient with only two vertices will do.
- You should come up with a nice starter which will allow you to play with the "little hand" (visual selection of the parameters).
- Have fun and show us what you get!

The reason why I didn't enter this is that I didn't follow his tut exactly. I used Sin*Sin|Cos*Sin for the Filter Transform rather than Sin+Sin|Cos+Sin or Sin-Sin|Cos-Sin, so I didn't think it would be eligible. But I really liked the look of this. Does it remind you of a cobra, too?

Made in Fractal Explorer and minor postwork done in GIMP.
