My first HDR image. We got a new camera at work, a Cannon EOS Rebel T3, a DSLR. I took it home this weekend to learn how to use it and today I got to play with some of the neat features, like bracketed exposures with continuous shooting. Finally, I could take some images that were meant to be used in HDR. So, I used PhotoPlus X5's HDR merge to put this together. I hope it's not too bad for my first true HDR.

Thank you! It was a fairly quiet evening and I was lucky to get the shot with no one in the picture. There are often people walking along here, on their way to or from the casino boat on the left or just taking in the sights of the might Mississippi River.
Thank you so much, Helen, for that wonderful comment! I was very happy with the result on this and the light rays were one of the reasons. Even the non-HDR standard exposure gave that effect though I think the HDR popped them out a bit more. I'm so glad you liked it!
Thank you very much, Thea! Yes, I'm from New Orleans, but this is Natchez. We evacuated to Natchez for Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and since Katrina destroyed our house, we stayed in Natchez. It's got a really pretty river view here. The Mississippi River is very accessible in Natchez. As a matter of fact, someone just lost there 38 foot mobile home down the ramp Under The Hill. $250,000 RV, floating down the river til it sunk! So, you have to be careful around the river. It can be deceiving and very easy to forget what a very powerful body of water it is.
Thank you Peggi for your answer . That must have been terrible that you lost your home in that hurricane, I can still remember it very well , all those people loosing their houses. Of course here in Holland where many think that we are the best in the world as far as water savety is concerned people said that they just did not pay enough attention to the condition of the dikes etc. I dont know but I suppose here things like that can happen too as we live under sea level, water is a danger one does not always realise.. So you really live facing the river, that must be very pretty, I hope you have found a good new home.
Dear Peggi,
YOU have a gift for photography.
AWESOME shot!
Keep a smile on
