This is from the 2008 Natchez Pow-wow at the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians in Natchez, MS. I thought the costume on the woman in the middle was just mind-blowing. I wish I could have gotten a picture of her dancing.
Full view for detail.
I hope you like this little taste of Native Americana.
Of course I love these ... I am NA and from the Eastern Cherokee. I go to powwows whenever I can find them going on, but up here in MN it is going to be difficult. In KY it was much easier. Nice pictures.
Don't know about the dancing ... but I agree about the womans attire .. I had a friend who lived I Platsburg, Missouri who had an Indian Chief as a spirit guide ... interesting
This is wonderful Peggi! I have always wanted to go to a Pow-wow. Lucky lady! I am about 30 miles from the Santee Sioux reservation here and I'm not sure how far I am from Pine Ridge. Did you know that the Lakota are now a republic? I think that is so wonderful. It is about time. It is an amazing site. If you are interested do a google search for Republic of Lakotah.
By the way, I love this and the lady's Native wear is exquisite. Glad you shared this with us! ss

I have posted a video on YouTube of a compilation of short videos I took at the Pow-wows in 2007 and 2008. Here's the link, if you'd like to see it.
