This is a tweak of one of the flames in ~neonrauschen's wonderful flame pack, whatuseeiswhatuget
This is a very tweakable flame pack. It would be a good starter pack for noobs because things happen so fast when you start moving triangles around. Instant gratification! Thanks so much, Frank, for sharing this great resource.

Made in Apophysis 7X.9 and postwork in Photoshop CS. Full view for detail.

thanx for the tip on the pack. even though i've been doing this for about a year i'm not too much of a novice but still not a expert and my frustration with not using plugins because of my failure to install them properly and being out of practice with the program has just made me give up on it altogether--well almost. i still want to work with apophysis because i'm not a quitter, but i just have to wonder why i keep having problems with plugins? they're my arch-nemesis right now.:steaming:

Thank you very much! Yes, this one came out as a surprise. As I was moving the heaviest weighted triangle around, the image was changing dramatically, sometimes totally going out of the preview window. Then, all of a sudden, this emerged and I thought, "I'll stop here".

I'm really glad you like it.

Sometimes, it is easy. Other times, it can takes hours to find the right combination of triangles, plugins, variables, weights, and color. But I find if I start with a set of params that makes an interesting looking flame to begin with, then you can often find another hidden treasure in there as well. Sometimes I tweak them so much they are no longer close to the starting params. I change a variation here, a weight there, remove and add triangles, and various other things. It does take patience, though. But it's usually well worth it in the end.

This one is fairly close to the original params although the image is not even close. In the thumbnail of the flamepack in the comments under the deviation, the flame I tweaked is the image in the upper left hand corner of the flamepack thumb. They look very different, but I think the only thing I did was move a triangle or two and change the gradient.

:D I guess I will have to adjust my patience parameters then. :stupidme:
